Direct Support Professional - Resident Counselor provide direct care support to adult individuals with intellectual challenges in the areas of daily living, administration of medication, meal preparation, household maintenance and providing a connection to the community through recreation planning, transportation, and accompaniment to community-based events and places. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following: 
  • Maintains constant supervision of the individual(s) assigned.
  • Keeps individual(s) engaged in daily activities of their choice.
  • Assists individual(s) in developing basic daily living skills such as meal preparation and developing a daily exercise routines.
  • Provides healthy meals, maintains individual hygiene, and cleanliness of home.
  • Ensures proper ratios are met at all times.
  • Schedules and conducts recreational and educational activities for the individuals such as field trips to museums, concerts, sporting and other events, etc.
  • Assists in developing and implementing individual IP plans.
  • Attends IP meetings and medical appointments with the individual when required.
  • Transports individuals to and from home for doctor’s appointments, IP meetings, daily recreational activities, etc., in a safe and timely manner.
  • Attends company and department meetings, trainings, and events as required
  • Monitors the safe keeping of sensitive and confidential information and materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Residential Site Manager(s).
SHIFT HOURS/DAYS: This position is essential/on call so while standard shift are assigned, EPIC provides around the clock care so the incumbent may be required to be at work extended weekday/ends even in cases of inclement weather, holidays, etc. with approval. Additionally staff is on call and must be available in cases of emergency where their assistance is needed. Also, no shift, site, supervisor, etc. is guaranteed. EPIC is an at-will employer and reserves the right to make any placement and scheduling changes based on consumer and operational needs.

  • Possess the patience and temperament to support adults with intellectual challenges.
  • Ability to successfully pass COMAR mandated training and basic skills tests.
  • Have a local, valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Possess CNA License.
