Description

The Training Specialist is accountable for leading and facilitating the design, implementation, and delivery of classroom, online, and blended learning modules associated with the on-boarding and training of new employees and managers throughout the organization. He/she aids ongoing employee development through support of the learning management system (LMS), eLearning content, and communication of training programs.

The Training Specialist is a member of EPIC's Human Resources team. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources and is located at 8000 Parston Drive, Forestville, MD 20747

Job Functions:

  • Coordinates, facilitates, and oversees orientation sessions.
  • Ensure all orientation content is current and makes a quality first impression. Ensure impactful content for orientation training programs.
  • Build and implement orientation content for New Employee/Manager Orientation.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and provides recommendations and improvements.
  • Create and administer the e-learning component of training.
  • Assist Human Resources with customized onboarding initiatives.
  • Recruit, cross-train, and schedule EPIC Ambassadors to assist with the facilitation of orientation programs.
  • Takes lead or assists on the design, implementation, and delivery of front line-level training and development programs (classroom, online, and blended learning modules) to emphasize on compliance guidelines and effectiveness of skill based training.
  • Attends department & staff meetings to identify gaps in the delivery of program services and administer remedial service support plans.
  • Builds solid cross functional relationships across the organization.
  • Supports communication of training initiatives throughout the organization, with a focus on new employees and the onboarding experience.
  • Maintain training compliance database, create and implement systematically reminders to employees.
  • Models a character of commitment to the company’s values, standards, and core purpose.

Learning Management System Functions:

  • Assists in creating and maintaining training schedule in (LMS) Learning Management System
  • Assists in maintaining LMS training compliance and reports on a monthly basis.
  • Assists in maintaining up-to-date and accurate learning content, assignments, and communication of LMS resources.
  • Assists in eLearning development, delivery, and communication.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related fields.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years training experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and implementation of adult learning theory.
  • Ability to speak and engage with adiverse audiences of all levels (Line-Level, Management)
  • Effective at empowering and encouraging others through teaching, modeling, and mentoring.
  • Effective and creative problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective organizational skills to keep track of multiple tasks, situations, and people.
  • Ability to work well within a self-directed atmosphere yet work effectively with team members as needed to achieve desired outcomes and goals.
  • Agile Communicator, with strong proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
  • Effective at facilitating groups of all sizes (strongly preferred).
  • Visual design, layout, and graphics skills (strongly preferred).
  • Learning Management System experience (course creation and upload, user support, etc.) (preferred).
  • Experience using and administering reporting tools (preferred).
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Sharepoint, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends based on business needs.
