SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Employment Discovery and Customization Specialist provide direct support services to adult individuals with intellectual challenges in the areas of employment counseling, individual needs assessment, vocational evaluation, employment preparation and training; referral to community resources and support services, program eligibility, and/or job development/placement. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure persons supported adhere to employment services schedule.
  • Instructs persons supported of their rights and that of others as provided by Resource Connections.
  • Contacts parents/guardians and/or Resource Coordinator to inform them of progress and any incident that may occur.
  • Ensure work sites and vehicles are safe, comfortable, well maintained, and free from hazards.
  • Finds employment positions of person's choice within the community.
  • Assist persons supported complete job applications, mock office scenarios and interview sessions.
  • Accurately documents and turns in daily activity and attendance sheets.
  • Maintains monthly report and turns them to Supervisor by required due date.
  • Monitors the safe keeping of sensitive and confidential information and materials.
  • Transports persons supported to and from job interviews, job sites, and daily recreational activities in a safe and timely manner.

  • Ability to follow a schedule and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to recognize and handle health and safety concerns
  • A local, valid US driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations and/or at fault accidents in the past 3 years or any major violations in the last 5 years
  • Willingness to use your personal vehicle on a daily basis (required for this position; reimbursement is provided)
  • Ability to pass skills testing and state and agency mandated training


SHIFT HOURS/DAYS:
This position is full-time, non-exempt, and is classified as essential/on-call. It is located throughout Prince George’s County with weekday work hours from 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
